Reference Point Therapy

As a practitioner and teacher of several modalities, I am always looking for techniques that integrate a holistic approach to healing the Body, Mind and Spirit. I am delighted to announce that I have found just that in Reference Point Therapy!

One of the most important points of RPT is that you can spare yourself from many years of therapy and clear most of your trauma by tracing it back to the original reference point, anchor or memory associated with that trauma. When you find the original association, acknowledge and release it, healing is instantaneous. You will be amazed at just how fast and simple this process is. The negative energy of the feelings and emotion are released in this technique by simply acknowledging and validating them and the location within the body where they are residing.

Reference Point Therapy was developed by Simon and Evette Rose. They integrated essential pieces from:

  • Neuro-Linguistic Programming
  • Grant McFetridge's Peak States work
  • The Hawaiian tradition of Ho'oponopono
  • Soleria Green's work with Beingness and expanding consciousness

All of these techniques led them to find and develop this incredible system. Reference Point Therapy is an incredibly fast and easy way to clear deep patterns, blocks and trauma. You can apply this to every area of your life including healing mental, emotional, physical and spiritual issues.

RPT is about acknowledging the 'what' and 'when'; acknowledging the association and the earliest reference point. The basis of RPT is that the source of our problems is in our biology, it's almost always ancestral. Our instinct in the gut is a vibration that you hear or feel and is largely associated with survival. But what is inherited is just an association with our survival instinct, our 'gut feeling'.

Underneath our human problems are 'feelings' which sit in the heart…the hurt, the trauma, etc. Underneath our feelings is something deeper, the gut instinct. We need to identify that gut instinct. In RPT, 'tones' is the word that has been used in this context. So, for example, the deep gut feeling of aloneness is the tone that holds the trauma in place. So, when we're clearing the hurt or depression or trauma in the heart, and we move into the gut, the tone in the gut could be aloneness. So by acknowledging it is like giving it permission to be cleared. Once we acknowledge this association, the feeling held in the heart clears.

The tone looks a lot like 'secondary gain'. So we're basically clearing the tones, the feelings, of secondary gain because the unconscious belief is that this feeling helps you survive. So, for example, we acknowledge the association of 'aloneness' and 'survival' back to the first reference point. So, why could aloneness be a survival instinct? It could be as simple as living in an environment where other people are a threat, and the way to survive is to withdraw, to be alone. So it's as simple as associating survival with staying away from others and being alone. If other people are a threat, then survival is 'aloneness'. Remember, this has come from your ancestors. The energy of these feelings has come through your biology.

We hold the energy of survival in our body-mind which is in our gut. This is our 'gut instinct' or 'gut reaction' of what is going on. It's meant to keep us safe….ex: crossing the road or not, going down the dark alley, or not. It's about survival, it's our fight or flight instinct. Presently, science has identified three minds in the human body. Every one of our minds in our body has a specific function or purpose. Our human problems: diseases, abundance problems, relationship problems, and so on, lie in the brain. The brain is also where our physical symptoms reside; our heart is about feelings like love, but hurt and trauma also reside here; and the body-mind is about survival.

So, our gut holds our feelings and associations around survival. What causes one of these tones to be taken on in the body-mind is a survival instinct. So aloneness is only kept in your body if it helps you survive. If it didn't keep you safe and help you survive you probably would have gotten rid of it by now by yourself. So the only things that you need my help to clear are the things that you unconsciously thought would help you survive.

Emotional Healing

The shortest and simplest answer is that RPT is the easiest way to clear deep emotional pain, trauma and patterns. This means that first of all, we can powerfully change just about any emotional block using this work. You may already have seen lots of other techniques for clearing emotional blocks, so the simplest thing I can say is that we go deeper, much deeper. RPT is simple and effective in clearing emotional pain and suffering, including depression, low self-worth, phobias and all other emotional blocks.

Physical Healing

The physical body is a communication tool for the mental, emotional, spiritual and energetic bodies. Diseases are created in these bodies long before it is ever manifested in the physical body. Physical diseases can be caused by deeply held emotional pain and trauma. When we release the association between the feeling and the trauma, the body heals itself rapidly. Some physical conditions are not caused by emotional trauma. In these cases, emotional healing still speeds up the recovery process and is still recommended.

How our Subconscious Mind Works

Neale Donald Walsch, in his latest book 'When Everything Changes, Change Everything', teaches us that whenever an event happens in our lives our subconscious mind goes 'searching' for an emotion or feeling to 'attach' to this event which determines how it affects us physically, emotionally, or spiritually. We can easily manifest depression, fear, pain or disease in our body and mind by what we think or believe about our self, our experiences, and our life.

When something happens in our life, our subconscious mind searches our 'data bank' for memories and programs that we have stored from our past experiences; our parents and grandparents and ancestors experiences; from other people's experiences; and from group consciousness. This happens in a fraction of a second. Once we have an emotion or feeling to attach to this event, we store it in our 'subconscious mind' and have basically claimed it as ours. We often play it over and over in our 'conscious mind' like a broken record. It becomes a part of us, of who we think we are…a part of our identity. We often hold onto this belief or program for the rest of our lives, unless we realize that it's not serving us and find a way to release it. We are also totally unaware of many beliefs we have, as they are stored in our subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind is approximately 90% of our mind. These beliefs are still affecting us, even though we may not be consciously aware of them.
